Our Tour Review

Things to Consider

  • This is the cheapest half-day tour, which also means it’s a pretty “no frills” option and doesn’t include much in the way of complementary food like some of the other tours on offer. However, each booking receives a discount to the Boat Club at the marina (breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee), and guests are welcome to bring their own food. So if you don’t want to pay for food you don’t think you’ll eat, or you want to bring food you know you will, this could be a good option. Some other half day cruises have light meals included.
  • Given the price and flexibility with food, this is a popular tour in particular for families with children under 14 and those who are watching their wallets.
  • The top deck is not covered, which means great viewing and sunbathing, but make sure you bring a hat and sunscreen. There is also no access to the front deck.
  • The lower, enclosed area means you’re protected no matter the weather; however, it’s worth noting that if the tour is busy that could affect viewing if you stay indoors. If this is important to you, you may want to look at the other half-day tours on offer.
  • At 18 knots maximum speed, this has a slightly slower cruising speed; this means the faster tour boats can spend more time with the whales on a 4-hour cruise.
  • What to bring? We recommend you wear flat shoes and bring your camera, sunscreen and a hat, a warm jacket, and money for food/drinks/souvenirs.
