54321 A great day out on the waters searching and finding numerous humpback whales. Fantastic viewing from this vessel. The narration by Keith (Skipper) was very informative and greatly added to the experience. The food on board was delicious and plentiful. I can't praise the staff highly enough and thoroughly recommend this trip. If you want to do a whale watching tour then go no further than this company.

54321 11 Aug 2017. Keith (skipper) from Freedom 111 gave us a great opportunity to enjoy several pods of whales 'playing' in the waters off Fraser Is. They came up so close to the boat, you could nearly touch them. Wonderful photo opportunities at every vantage point. Wow what a great day. Thank you Keith and crew. Thoroughly recommend.

54321 What a superb day, so glad we chose the beautiful Freedom III to do a full days trip. Keith the Skipper ensured we saw plenty of whales without ‘chasing’ them and gave plentiful and timely information about the Whales and the area in a very humerus manner. He also makes the best profiteroles! Keith, Susan and Ivan ensured everyone onboard had a relaxed and comfortable sailing. Food and beverages a plenty, all very fresh and very tasty. I would highly recommend you book a full days whale watching trip with these folks and have a day to remember with lots of exciting whale ???? moments.

54321 Although the whale watching season is coming towards its end, we had an absolutely amazing day out with FreedomIII. The boat is really comfortable, the crew were marvelous and the skipper is just great. He obviously cares very much about what he does. He wants his passengers to have a great experience, and of course he's really knowledgeable about the whales in his area, how and why they behave the way they do. He's also very sensitive to the whales " this is always whale-watching - never whale-chasing". Excellent philosophy! Oh, and he also has a pretty funny line in gags and jokes too! We saw a whole variety of amazing and fascinating behaviors a sometimes elusive, often playful. I thought the whole trip was operated on a generous and super- professional basis. Loved it!

54321 My wife and I went out on the 2nd of September 2015 and the trip was amazing. We encountered whales very early on and the action didn't stop the whole day encountering several pods of whales. They were regularly coming up close to the boat. Under the boat, fin slapping, breaching, tail slapping. My wife was very excited to see whales for her first time and Freedom III certainly did not disappoint. It was a great day for all. Great food to and atmosphere on the boat. Highly recommended to say the least. Very satisfied.

54321 We had a FANTASTIC day on freedom 111 today. Saw amazing whales and the food was all yummy. The crew were friendly and we stayed out on the water longer than schedule to make sure we could make the most of the day, good value and highly recommend it. Thanks so much we'll be back.
Dawn & Charlie — 24 July, 2015

54321 I cannot rate this tour highly enough. Keith and his crew were so friendly (they even arranged for the luggage that I'd left at the transit centre to be picked up!) and the food was delicious. Despite it being very early in the season, we saw two beautiful whales in the afternoon, and ended up staying out far beyond our scheduled return time to watch them. A fantastic day!

54321 Our second trip on this boat, and what a great time we had. The friendly crew works hard to make it a very enjoyable day, with good food, great service and lots of laughs. The whales were fantastic, with breaches close to the boat and many sightings in close. We had mothers and calves, as well as bigger pods with some young bulls showing off by competing in a breaching competition. plenty of pectoral fin waves and lots of action. The day surpassed all our previous trips with any boat and we will be going with Freedom again. many thanks for a great day on the water.

Our Tour Review

Things to Consider

  • This is a very popular tour and is always full, so we recommend you book as far in advance as possible.
  • While it is a more expensive 3/4 day tour, you do get more time on the water (and therefore with the whales) and the experience of an on board chef (this tour is known for its food).
  • We find there normally aren’t as many children on board this tour, so if you have children who like socialising with other children, then you may want to look at one of the other whale watching tours on offer that are more explicitly geared towards families.
  • If wheelchair access is crucial, then you will need to choose one of the other whale watch tours, as this vessel is not wheelchair accessible. Some mobility is required to navigate steps onboard and to the decks.
  • What to bring? We recommend you wear flat shoes and bring at the very least your camera, sunscreen, hat, jacket, polaroid sunglasses, and money for drinks/food/souvenirs.
